History of Goodyear furniture
Where it all began – The Hen Shed Rufford
The Goodyear story starts in the late 1970’s when Geoffrey Goodyear a time served joiner by trade decided to start his own business making hand made kitchens. With an obvious need for a workshop a large disused hen shed in the garden was converted into a workshop. Based in the village of Rufford, demand for Mr Goodyear’s hand made kitchens increased and it wasn’t long before a few more sheds appeared.
Business continued increasing into the early 1980’s, so much so that a much larger workshop was required. One was found and bought in the village of Mawdesley only a few miles from Rufford. This larger premises allowed for the contiuned expansion, were more machinery was added along with a few more joiners. Expansion continued throughout the 1980’s & 1990’s with the addition of extensive kitchen, bathroom & furniture showrooms.
In the 2000’s furniture had become such a large part our business that the decision was taken to stop producing and selling kitchens and concentrate on furniture.
